This luxury hotel and winery is located in a 12th century monastery, founded by the Premonstratensian Order in Spain, which maintains its structure intact, combining modern and non-invasive architecture. In 1146 the monks founded the Abbey of Santa Maria de Retuerta and in 1931 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. In 2012, the cultural and historical legacy, together with the natural surroundings, inspired the creation of a luxury wine hideaway where one can experience the peace of the centuries-old stone cloister where the monks once lived and prayed.
In 2008, renovation work began under the direction of the Italian architect Marco Serra with a very clear purpose: the project was to create a place where to live a unique experience through art and history. To this end, the architectural and philosophical legacy has been faithfully respected, as well as the original structures of the monastery, preserving the architectural styles, as well as the manifestation of the Premonstratensian way of life. Thus, every corner of the hotel preserves the purpose of each room; the refectory is currently the breakfast room. What used to be the Chapter House is now a small bar, ideal for an after-dinner drink.
The Museum Garden reflects peace and tranquillity and is the perfect place to disconnect from the modern world. Here you can enjoy Rückriem’s avantgarde sculptures. But the latest and most outstanding addition to the Abadía Retuerta Art collection is Rumor de Límites V, a unique piece sculpted in steel by Eduardo Chillida in 1959 and located inside the abbey, whose setting takes on a peculiar beauty and mystery.

With more than a thousand square metres, this space of serenity is located in the stables, underground, where the stone and the shadows give way to optimal relaxation. It has a large swimming pool with a comes from a 120-metre deep well, which by means of reverse osmosis and decalcification processes obtains water that is almost as pure and clean as mineral water.
In addition, you will find a relaxation area, with a cosy and luminous space ideal for enjoying a herbal tea or flavoured water.
